Mezza
Write up from Sunday – Hares Dark Horse and Henry Root.
Of course the name root is synonymous with chaos and today was no different…….
The Bay Horse was cancelled due to the Leeds half marathon meant that the roads were closed! Next venue an old favourite at the Leo’s rugby club also was a nightmare due to the ring road being shut for the marathon, incidentally our very own OWL was taking part.
At 1110hrs the pack finally gathered for the hash brief with the following in attendance
Wheels, Ann Berlin, Black Widow, Magnum and Twighlight, Easy and Littleworld, Pansy, Jake, Rambo and his shadow Little boy Blue.
Littleworld took on the mantle of hashflash and proceeded to do a Lick it up and take pictures of nothing but everything – a good stand in for the much missed FD.
Of the pack went with Pansy Jake Magnum and Rambo FRB’ing down past the cricket club and into the woods, a cracking run through the woods ensued with shiggy aplenty.
Typical Henry and Dark Horse got entangled in another trail that had been laid in flower in the woods! Chaos reigned for a good twenty minutes trying to find the “trail” eventually the trail was sniffed out by little boy Blue and Rambo and on we went crashing through the woods, Little boy Blue had an altercation with two rather large labrador’s and a Jack Russell – had a barking contest growled a bit then ran on none the worse for his altercation.
Magnum, Annie, Jake and Pansy were lost again following yet another none hash trail Rambo and Black Widow eventually found the trail again and it was On On again through the woods, at this point the rain decided to join us and all got rather wet.
On On through the woods and onto the beer stop – yet again we lost the trail and three groups arrived at the Bay Horse from different directions. After a nice rest and a pint of cool ale it was of on the trail again, once again found by Black Widow and Rambo and back on the trail we had come in on…………
Down the road and over the ring road again, up the hill and past the cricket ground onto Long Causeway (a very apt name) We found that Adel’s streets are nice at this time of year, the trail was lost on more than one occasion, Magnum and Pansy did the right thing and ran back through the woods, Rambo and Jake the lone FRB’s were getting frustrated
And just as we thought we were on the home stretch yet another loop was thrown in, by now we had been out for over two and a half hours! Rambo and Jake carried on and eventually saw flour in the sports field – one which was miles wide! Of again down through the graveyard and back onto Long Causeway 30 minutes later! (question – why are coffin dodgers allowed to lay trails!) back on down the hill – along the stream and back into the woods again – this time local knowledge from Annie and Black Widow
And we soon found the on inn approaching from the back of the rugby club – on arrival after 3 hours there was a rugby club presentation going on and oblivious to this the hash stragglers walked on straight through!
Little boy Blue fell into the car gasping for a drink…..
Matilda and Sweetbreads with the newest Hash member, Hash-a-Bye-Baby were in the car park along with Owl who had done the half marathon, had a couple of pints and cycled up to the Leo’s
And I believe Ginger had met us in the Bay Horse but not seen till the end lol.
A good first half hash but the second half was dreadful but hey ho it takes all kinds to make a good hash. I had to do a bunk at this stage due to our late arrival back and having guests for dinner.
Once again an enjoyable day.
ON ON Rambo and Little Boy Blue.
