It's not often that you can add 33% to a run's attendance by giving the hare two names or if an extra person happens to roll up after the event. Tonight we managed both.
Having slithered about 20 miles from Shipley on this dark, icy evening for the final YH3 run of 2009, I expected a fair few punters. In the event, I found Mojo and the Hare propping up the bar but nary another hasher in sight.
It was only polite to have a pint, catch up with Mojo and Orifice's news and see if anyone else rolled (or more accurately, slid) along. 7.50 arrived and then there were still three. Time to gird up the dangly bits and get the trail under our belts, lest the match be abandoned without hope of a replay.
So, we skated into Rothwell, had a beer in the Black Bull and skated back to Carlton.
FD greeted us upon our return, dilligently having both produced loads of pictures to jog everyone's AGPU voting brain cells and dragged herself all the way across town to the pub full of cold. Unfortunately no one else was there to appreciate her efforts.
The pub had laid on enough pies and peas for twenty, but fortunately the surplus 16 portions found homes around the locals.
With Hash Cash and RA powers for the night, I blew loads of money on down-downs - four halves in all, awarded one to each of us.
YH3's smallest ever pack, I think, but still a great hashing evening, as ever.
