Write up for Sunday 1st Feb – the A team Hash A motley crew of those who for one reason or another couldn’t get to AGPU assembled under the watchful eye of the Hash Elder the one and only Wheels. Pansy – Owl – Anne Berlin – Clueless – Jack Tar – Stick – Candyfloss – Magnum - Rambo and Mutley? (Candy’s bit of candy). Pansy and owl had partaken of the very large and cheap breakfast in Wetherspoons Stick and Twist hostelry whilst waiting for the rest of the pack to arrive. Owl having just done a 10k run he was ready to go again. The first live hair (wheels) set of leaving us to finish the pre hash drinks. The pack set of in the snow flurrie and headed of towards the university, under the uni and round into woodhouse moor – past the Hyde Park pub which was a pity cos it was shut. Wheels the took us on a tour of the alleyways of Headingley which I never knew were there then onto woodhouse ridge and back to the Hyde Park – again we never made it as wheels had another beer stop in mind – on on down to the Chemic Tavern where the miserable barsteward wouldn’t let us in – quick discussion and on on to the next beerstop – this will win the best/worst beerstop in this years Oscars……….no bloody roof on the building and had been shut for years – not to be thwarted the hare then took us to the next beer stop and hey you guessed it – no effing beer! We were saved from dehydration by the Eldon which was a welcome respite from the snow and cold. Wheels treated the pack to a welcoming pint and then was too knackered to carry on the trail so Rambo was despatched with the chalk and told to get the pack home – easy peasy a few wrong checks and a straight line to the on inn……………..NOT………..Rambo got back to the Stick and Twist thinking the pack wouldn’t be long – he buys a tray of drinks and sits outside in the cold. What comments I got about being a greedy person. Owl appeared and REFUSED A DRINK…………………he was off to rehearse his part in the panto and was running late. Pansy and Magnum arrived followed by the pack and the drinks were gone in seconds. Down Downs drew an appreciative crowd and there were 5 RA’s surely a record – two live hares and 13 down downs………. We then retired into the warm building where copious amounts of ale were supped and Food taken – Wheels was ok after his catnap and the young girls on the next table never stopped laughing. It was the best hash I have partaken in for a long time and was a good fun day in good company. Rambo
