A right long way we had to come
To join the Hash for another run,
But there’s no-one here we were told
Only Hounds times 4, stood in the cold
We waited and waited and waited you see
So plenty of time to go for a pee,
And coming out of the pub all done
Numbers had swelled to twenty one (just)
ON OUT, at eleven fifteen mate
Flossie and Evers however were late,
“Plastic bag socks” for Wheels to wear
No muddy feet for him to bear!
On through the streets, a corner to turn
And plenty of “falsies” for FRB’s to burn
But not much running I hear you say
No we’re a “Walking Club” hashing today!
So onward we plod with fields to traverse
And motorway noise, oh! What a curse!
But straggling along was Annie B and Me
And Wheels taking photos of us full of glee!
No shiggy around to cause a splash
And wet all members of the Yorkshire Hash,
But back to roads and houses we came
The shiggy loop abandoned – oh! What a shame!
Today is Mothers Day as we saw
Ladies with daffodils at the door
Leaving the church to go on their way
“Oh happy day” we ventured to say. A welcome pub-stop to quench our thirst
Quite how that was when we didn’t burst
Into a jog while out on the trail
But more like going the pace of a snail!!
So quickly now the ON INN was in sight
Get changed, have a beer and wait for a bite –
Sausage casserole and chips, “wow” what a treat
Hospitality here would be hard to beat!!
