YH3 Run Number 1298 The Mallard, Cusworth, Doncaster, 10th June 2007 Hare: Yogi As it has become traditional for the Mismanagement Committee to always make some trivial mistake in planning it was no surprise to find that Rivet and myself were the only ones to make it to the welcome home BBQ on the Saturday evening. Never mind; we had a good time and spent the night at Yogi’s. The rest of the Hash turned up on Sunday expecting the BBQ and Yogi didn’t disappoint us. He simply had another BBQ for the Hashers after the run. We all met in the car park at the Mallard. Wheels turned up late on his cycle due to getting lost between Doncaster Station and Cusworth but this was to his advantage as he had made his way along 3 miles of the trail in reverse and knew where we were heading. The trail had been set on a cycle so the blobs and marking were a bit erratic and had been damaged by heavy rain. Usual markings, almost: 3 blobs and we were on, 6 blobs and we were on a false trail. I remember an endless cycle track, lots of nettles and false trails. Eventually we turned a corner onto a beautiful cricket square across which we could see the Beer Stop at the Ivanhoe pub. We were early, the pub not yet open. Rivet tried to cajole us into running around the cricket square to keep warm (this being June! Ed) but this is not in the hashing Code of Conduct and we joined the queue for opening time. The Mad Woman caused a bit of a scene when she started arguing with the bar staff about what kind of shandy she had ordered. Not a good idea as some others were waiting to be served and aggravating the bar staff will only make them more arsy. Mezza was eventually ushered outside still complaining to anyone who would listen but soon forgot about the rumpus when she found lots of pretty things to photograph. Spiderman (?Spider Who? Ed.) was doing his stuff on the trees outside the pub and Rock Chick made it into a competition to see who could climb highest and swing furthest. Easy Access looked concerned. After an extended Beer Stop enjoyed by all it was OnOn. I made the mistake of following FD and we went down a blind alley and ended up 5 minutes behind the pack but caught them when the trail seemed to disappear in the middle of a field and Hashers were running around in all directions trying to find the On. We ran along a lake in the lovely grounds of Cusworth Hall and into the courtyard where we stopped to watch a demonstration of greenwood skills among other things. The SCB’s will have missed this. By this time they had found another way back and had already ducked into The Mallard. After the exertions were over Longhose and Headbutt turned up for the beer and were in time to join a very rowdy circle where we had some very imaginative Down Downs. Then back to Yogi’s for the aforementioned BBQ (and Grope misbehaving with Harry and more rowdy DDs, Ed). All in all a very enjoyable weekend. Love and Kisses – Little Stiffy xx.
