KIPPAX, a parish-town, in the lower-division of Skyrack, liberty of Pontefract; 5 and a half miles from Pontefract, 8 E. of Leeds, 9 from Wakefield, 21 from York.

So says a transcript from the 1820s

Since then bugger all has happened in Kippax until Monday 20 November 2006, when it became the venue for arguably the worst trail in the long and illustrious history of the Yorkshire Hash House Harriers. 13 unlucky souls were forewarned on their arrival at The Royal Oak that this would be a lousy trail…and it lived down to all it’s expectations.
It was truly appalling. Absolutely no planning or co-ordination (Chief Hare Rapunzel forgot to bring his map) and co-conspirithare Strappa was late arriving, no off-road let alone any shiggy, and a route utterly forgettable in it’s mediocrity including a brilliantly executed back arrow that took the pack 10 minutes to work out. The only redeeming feature was a beer/food stop at Strappa’s for the underwhelmed pack. And to cap it all The Royal Oak no longer served real ale!!!
